Cities of Learning partners invite your organisation to learn online how to use digital Open Badges for skills recognition. Advance your youth programmes with quality recognition.


Dates: 17 September-9 October 2025
Benefit from the Cities of Learning online course videos, presentations and resources to advance your expertise in quality recognition using digital Open Badges. Be prepared for the new EU financing cycle, where skills development, validation and recognition will be a priority - be part of the European Union of Skills strategy.
The course will enhance your readiness to utilise digital Open Badges and apply for the Quality Label for Badge Recognition.

Highlights of this online training activity:

This course is our commitment to promote and support badge quality recognition. Successful self-paced learning in this course may lead your organisation to be ready to apply for the Cities of Learning Network’s Quality Label for Badge Recognition.
  • Focuses on developing recognition solutions in youth work, non-formal education, training and adult education contexts.
  • Certified training - the Cities of Learning Network partners offer opportunities for the course participants to assess, validate and recognise learning.
  • Digital friendly - the training and learning methodology and activities include using digital tools and platforms, and digital Open Badges.
  • It is a starter course and may lead to a long-term involvement opportunities to join the Cities of Learning Network activities in the follow-up.
  • The course prepares your organisation for the upcoming EU financing cycle with a focus on the European Union of Skills strategy.


Digital credentials and certification

This training activity is a unique opportunity for participants to use up-to-date and digital recognition solutions, such as digital Open Badges. By completing badge tasks and submitting evidence, you will be able to validate and proof your learning!

This badge certificate is awarded to people who engaged with the content and online activities offered during the Cities of Learning online course on skills recognition with digital Open Badges.
Through the course activities, the badge earner could explore at their choice the following topics: a) What is an Open Badge; b) How to Start Using Badges; c) How to Create a Quality Badge; d) How to Create a Badge System; e) How to issue Open Badges; f) How to review badge evidence.
These badge capacity development areas are aligned with the Cities of Learning Network's Quality Label for Badge Recognition standard.
The online course included interactive online workshops with knowledge presentation inputs and practical exercises. Course participants also had access to self-paced activities to transfer their learning and advance their organisations' digital youth work strategy and practice. Total course duration, depending on the learner's involvement, was 15 to 20 hours.
This course was part of the Cities of Learning Network EU co-funded project.

  1. Attending at least 50% of online workshops and
  2. Earning at least four badges in the playlist "Creating quality Open Badges and badge systems" badges.
